We are committed to keeping all minors and vulnerable adults who are associated with us as safe from sexual abuse and misconduct (SAM), as we can.
• Committed leadership: We are committed to ensuring our organization does everything it reasonably can to keep minors and vulnerable adults as safe from SAM as possible. In support of this objective, we are committed to being actively involved with all our minor and vulnerable adult safety activities.
• The interests of minors and vulnerable adults come ahead of our own; their safety is our primary concern.
• Transparent: We will be transparent about our SAM risk, to ensure we always understand how we need to manage it.
• Customized: We will customize our BASS (Bokrim Athlete Safety System) and ensure it remains customized. Our aim is to meet, and keep meeting, the expectation that our activities are as effective as we can make them given the nature, scope, and scale of our SAM risk and our SAM risk management resources.
• Reliable Information: We will ensure our BASS decisions are, as far as possible, informed by information we have verified is reliable.
• Cognitive Biases: Our BASS-related decision-making processes will explicitly acknowledge the danger of ignoring cognitive biases, which we recognize are particularly prevalent with SAM.
• Adaptability: Our BASS will, by design, incorporate activities that ensure we identify, understand, and test ways to adapt to change as often as necessary.
• Constant Improvement: Until the threat of SAM is eliminated, we will confidentially share our BASS and its performance with BOKRIM, so we can contribute to the constant and widespread improvement of child protection practices and constantly improve our own BASS.
